Sword South Africa (Pty) Ltd is a system integration and professional services company, founded in 2003, as a subsidiary of the Sword Group, a Paris Euronext, New Market listed company. The controlling shareholding of the South African practice was subsequently acquired by a group of local black investors. The company is now rated BBB in terms of the Section 9(5) of the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act of 2003 and has an effective black ownership of ninety five percent (95%) ; of which twenty six percent (26%) is in the hands of black women ; and nineteen percent (19%) in the hands of the youth through Umsobomvu Youth Fund. The company is led, controlled and managed by Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs), who enjoy overwhelming majority at Board, Executive and Management levels.
